Everyone feels stressed from time to time. Stress can be good at times and can be bad.  Good stress is the one that you are able to tolerate and that helps you stay focused, energetic and alert.  Bad stress is when it becomes overwhelming and has negative impact on your health – both physically and mentally.  It can also impact you professional and personal life.

This fast paced world can get very overwhelming for some of us which contributes to feeling stressed. We have so much to do – taking care of the children, the house, professional life and so forth.  This can drain the energy we need to be able to focus on important aspects of our lives and stay positive.  We start losing hope and feel unhappy.

According to The American Institute of Stress “there has been no definition of stress that everyone accepts. Therefore, it’s difficult to measure stress if there is no agreement on what the definition of stress should be. People have very different ideas with respect to their definition of stress. Probably the most common is, “physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension”. Another popular definition of stress is, “a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize.”

Simply, we need to take care of stress before it starts impacting our health and here is one easy life change you can make today that will help you reduce stress and that is Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle

Healthy mind, healthy body, healthy thinking – combined together will provide you with the best rewards. Lots of people know the benefits of living a healthy life but they are not living up to that. Without a healthy body and mind we may find it difficult to focus on the many aspects of our life.

Before beginning this journey you have to take responsibility of your own health and well-being.  You are the one who is directly influencing your health.  What you eat, how you live your day to day life is your own choice.

In order to improve your health, eat a healthy diet.  Keep your body nourished so it is able to cope with stress and provide you with peaceful mind. Reduce processed food which lacks the enzymes necessary for digestion.  Research has shown that a diet high in processed food increases the risk of depression.  Instead eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruits which are high in vitamins and minerals.  Drink lots of water to not only keep yourself hydrated but water also helps with digestion and circulation of body fluids.

Adequate exercise is one of the most critical tools in enhancing mental and physical health. According to experts a 15 -20 minute of workout everyday can help reduce your risk of health issues like heart disease and obesity.  Find a form of exercise that you love and mare most comfortable with which will help you stay motivated and committed. Daily exercise will help you feel energetic, full of enthusiasm and ready for the day ahead.

Moving on to healthy mind, you need to calm and relax.  Take deep breath which influences your mind and mood. Focus your attention on your breathing without doing anything else.  This will help you relax.  Meditation is another way to keep your mind relaxed and focus on self-care.  A few minutes of practice every day can help ease the stress. Simply close your eyes and focus your attention on reciting positive mantra.

Getting enough rest is vital to keep your mind and body healthy. Lack of sleep can reduce your mental alertness. Having a good night’s rest allows your mental capacities to work at their fullest capacity the following day.

It can affect judgment, mood, ability to focus and learn, ability to remember things and may increase risk of accidents and injury. So you can see it is very important that you get enough sleep every day in order to keep your mind and body healthy.

Also focusing on things that provides you with peace and joy is another way to feel positive.  Spend time in the moment and enjoy it. Be grateful for all the things you have.  Remind yourself that you are fortunate and enjoy the blessings. Celebrate accomplishments and reward yourself.

Be strong and confront the negative energy.  Use stress to get better at things that you are doing not to weaken you. Stay positive and focus on your goals.
