How To Boost Your MetabolismYour metabolism slows with age; therefore, it takes longer time to lose weight.  By boosting your metabolism, you’ll feel totally different – you’ll be able to sleep better, feel more energized, and lose weight faster.  Here are few easy ways you can boost your metabolism. The secret is doing this on a regular basis.

  1. Do not skip your breakfast. There are many of us who don’t eat in the morning.  It is important to have breakfast to feel energized.  Simple things like oatmeal or yogurt can help boost your metabolism.
  1. Drink green tea. According to studies people who drink green tea burn up to an extra 70 to 100 calories per day due to the antioxidants called catechins in the tea. Drink at least 4 cups of green tea per day to get these benefits.
  1. Eat fibrous food. By eating more fiber, you’ll gain less weight over time and keep your metabolism high.   Include more fruits and vegetables in your diet.
  1. Drink lots of cold water. Drinking 5 to 6 cups of cold water a day can increase your metabolism by about 50 calories daily. A study showed people who drank ice water experienced a 30 percent increase in metabolism. Cold water forces the body to regulate itself which increases the metabolism.
  1. Eat iron-rich foods. Iron is an essential mineral that helps transport oxygen to tissues throughout the body. Iron helps our bodies make energy. Low iron levels can lead to anemia, slow metabolism, and feeling weak. Foods rich in iron include seafood, poultry, beef, beans, dark green leafy vegetables, dried fruits, peas and iron-fortified cereals and breads.
  1. Increase your workout and build muscles. Exercise will help you burn more calories plus muscles use more calories than fat.  Strengthening your muscles will make you better calorie burning machine if when you are not working out.

  1. Get your omega-3’s. Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) are primarily found in certain fish like bluefish, mackerel, salmon, sardines, tuna and ALA is found in plant sources such as nuts and seeds. Omega-3 aides in the efficient functioning of your metabolism and your ability to lose weight by reducing insulin levels.
  1. Get enough dairy. Dairy provides calcium and lack of calcium and slow your metabolism.  Consume dairy foods which are rich in calcium like yogurt and milk.
  1. Eat spicy foods. Capsaicin, a compound found in many hot peppers are known to boost metabolism, causing the body to produce extra hear and burn more calories for fuel.
