Use the Right Products to Make your Makeup Last All Day
You’ll come across many articles talking about making your makeup last longer and will list out the products. One thing to ask yourself before purchasing those products is – is it the right one for you. Will it work on your skin without causing any irritations? In fact, this type of questions should always be considered before buying any makeup products.
I have a very sensitive skin and anything I use that’s not for sensitive skin causes irritations, itching and even break outs. You know your skin better than anyone, so choose wisely.Plus you don’t need tons of makeup to make it stay on.
Here are few ways you can make your makeup last all day but again you use what you think will work best for you. These are just recommendations.
- Prep your skin
The best way to make your makeup last longer is to prep your skin before applying the makeup. By exfoliating you are removing the dead skin cells which gives your skin a more polished surface. I use Clarisonic Deep Pore Detoxifying Clay Mask but again you can use one that suits your skin. I like this mask due to kaolin and bentonite clays which soak up excess oils and stale sebum on the skin and within the pores. It also sucks out impurities like germs, dirt and pollution from the pores and prevents them from clogging.
By moisturizing your skin before makeup application, you will keep the skin hydrated and the makeup won’t get collected into fine lines and creases. Also, moisturizing will give the skin a more even and smooth look. I use Olay Complete Lotion All Day Moisturizer which has a lightweight formula and protects my skin from sun. It also conditions the skin surface with vitamins E, B3 and C, keeping my skin healthy-looking.
- Use Primer
Primers are the key to help your makeup last all day. Primers help to create a smooth surface for your foundation and help to hold the makeup in place. There are face primers and eye primers to create a surface for the eyeshadow. Primers like Clinique Super Universal Face Primer helps absorb the shine and keeps the skin looking even.
- Invest in good quality foundation.
Market is loaded with many brands and types of foundation and the key to make your makeup last longer and keep your skin well hydrated at the same time is to use one that suits your skin type. Like Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation which is great for dry and dehydrated skin. I use Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup since my skin tends to get oily. This foundation absorbs the shine and is perfect for my skin.
- Layer with Matching Powder
Find lightweight powders that match the color of your liquid foundation which will keep the liquids and creams from sliding off throughout the day. Powder will help seal your makeup. I keep lightweight powder like Clinique Stay Matte Powder Oil Free with me all the time and lightly tap it into areas that appear shiny throughout the day.
- Use the Right Tools
Last, but not least, using the right tools to apply your makeup will help your skin get the right amount of makeup. I use beauty blender to apply light layers to create a smooth and even complexion. It leaves the skin looking natural.
So back to my point, using the right products will not only help your makeup last all day but also save you lots of time and money. Makeups are expensive, so choose wisely and use what is best for your skin!
