5 Ways to Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Successful

January 10, 2019

New Year’s resolutions are quite an interesting thing where we make promises to do certain things to make this year better. There are things we want to change, do new things and feel fulfilled by the end of the year.

Every year it’s the same process. Many of us start off good, we do things to make a good change and then it becomes overwhelming to stick to it.

New changes start becoming boring, burden or just too much for us to handle.

Have you been in a situation where you got your resolutions written down, you’re happy with your list and you start off fine.  Then as the days go by, you feel less committed to the promises you made to yourself.  It feels like lots of work to keep up the change.

It’s your own decision to make a change and that decision can only come true if you develop few habits and activities that help you move in that right direction.

Yes, at points you will encounter obstacles and challenges. Many of us have been there.  It is your determination that will help you fulfill your resolution.

Here are 5 Things to Make Your New Year’s Resolution Successful:

Simplify It

simplify your new year's resolutions to make it work

If you ask few people around you what their New Year’s resolution is, you might get answers like travel more, get healthy, get organized, save more money, spend more time on my blog or business, spend more time with family, and so on.

“IF YOU CAN’T EXPLAIN IT SIMPLY, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT WELL ENOUGH.” – ALBERT EINSTEIN

Some of these resolutions can be ambiguous. Simplify by breaking it down into steps.  For example, for the resolution “Get Healthy” you can have:

    — Eat more vegetables and fruits

    — Exercise more

    — Join a gym

   — Do yoga

   — Meditate

The goal is to have a well-defined idea of what that resolution means for you.

Be Motivated

be motivated to make your new years resolutions work

Without motivation, it’s difficult to achieve much in life.  Use your resolutions as your motivation. Keep in mind the result, you are expecting to achieve.  Use that to remind you to inspire you.

Remind yourself every day that you are good enough and that you can do better. What you are doing is for yourself and to make your life better.  You are trying to fulfill what you’ve always wanted.

Commit yourself to the process.  By doing this, your journey becomes a lot easier and enjoyable one.

Beware of Critics

There are times when you are encountered with remarks that are not in your favor.  These critics can easily get you slip into a negative mindset and impact your success.

It can lead you to believe that what you’re doing is not good enough and that you’re not going to succeed.

Don’t let yourself carried away by the criticism. Instead, use it to empower and encourage you to keep on doing what you think is best to fulfill your resolution.

Go out, make it happen!

 Take a Break

take a break to make your resolutions work

Don’t burn yourself.  Take breaks when it’s needed. It’s essential for relaxing your mind.  Taking breaks increases productivity and focus.

“CHALLENGES ARE GIFTS THAT FORCE US TO SEARCH FOR A NEW CENTER OF GRAVITY. DON’T FIGHT THEM. JUST FIND A NEW WAY TO STAND.” – OPRAH WINFREY.

When we talk about taking breaks it is doing something that helps you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.  Activities such as yoga, taking a walk, mediation, listing to music or singing, taking a warm shower, getting a massage, these are things that can help you feel less stressed.

Stress is a dangerous element that can destroy your motivation very easily. Try your best to avoid it.

Celebrate Your Achievements

celebrate your achievements

Celebrate your progress.  Be happy with what you’ve achieved so far.  Be proud of yourself.

“CELEBRATE PERSONAL VICTORIES BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE
UNDERSTANDS WHAT IT TOOK TO ACCOMPLISH THEM.”

Whether you’ve reached a major milestone or a mini one, it is still a progress.  Keep doing what you’ve been doing, and you will definitely achieve all your goals.

Conclusion

Making your New Year’s resolutions successful is possible. All it takes, is to better understand what is it that you’re trying to achieve, and how to keep yourself motivated to execute the steps that helps you get there.

Avoid criticism.  Don’t allow people with negative thoughts to distract your thoughts.  Don’t let anyone let you down.  Believe in yourself and just do what you think is right for you and enjoy every bit of it.
